Haslett is located in Meridian Township and is immediately adjacent to East Lansing, Okemos and Michigan State University. Haslett serves as one of the area's more affluent suburbs, offering several upscale neighborhoods and a highly rated public school system.

Haslett High School has an extensive Advanced Placement Curriculum with Haslett students test scores being well above state and national averages. A high percentages of Haslett graduates go on to attend college.

Haslett is conveniently close to the cultural amenities and entertainment of Lansing and nearby Michigan State University while the community's tree-lined streets and quiet neighborhoods allow for a living experience that contrasts with a busy city. Haslett is experiencing huge commercial growth with new businesses continually establishing in the area. A large variety of shopping and dining is available at the Meridian Mall shopping district.

Haslett is most notable for being the home of Lake Lansing. The lake is approximately 500 acres in size and features two public parks, allowing access to beaches, fishing, and a boat launch. Two major sailing clubs are active on Lake Lansing.
