Westphalia, Michigan   Google Map

Westphalia is a rural, agricultural community located about ten miles southwest of St. Johns. Many of its residents work in the Lansing area. The town is eight miles north of I-96.

This town was started by a group of Roman Catholic settlers from Westphalia, Germany in 1836. Many descendants of this original group still live here, with an active church and parochial school community centered around St. Mary’s Parish to the north of town.

Businesses continue to prosper in and around downtown Westphalia, including the Westphalia Telephone Company – still independent and proud to be so – Huhn’s Food Center, Simon’s Flower Shoppe and others.
