Okemos has a large number of parks and walking paths
and is a
short distance away is the campus of Michigan State
University, Lake Lansing Park, and Michigan's state
capital in Lansing.
Okemos
schools have consistently been named in the top 14% of the
nation’s schools as a “What Parents Want” school
district, and Okemos students score high on
standardized tests. The district consistently earns
recognition through meeting or exceeding state
benchmarks in many areas of curriculum, including
the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health
and Sports.
Okemos, is a part of Meridian
township, which has experienced steady
commercial growth with new businesses continually establishing in
the area.
A large variety of shopping and dining is available at the Meridian
Mall shopping district surrounding the intersection of Grand River
