Raised Ranch
Characteristics of Raised Ranch homes:
  • Low building cost per square foot
  • Ground floor entry
  • Full flight of twelve steps to main level
  • Garage is built into the ground level
  • Resembles a bi-level style home

The Raised Ranch is a variation of the ranch style
home with the finished basement mostly or completely above ground.  From the curb, the raised ranch will resemble a bi-level. The difference is the configuration of the stairway.

The main entrance of a bi-level is split so both the first floor and ground floor can be easily accessed via a
half flight of six stairs. The "foyer" or entry area of a
raised ranch is on the ground floor with the living area reached by climbing a full flight of twelve stairs. The lower level usually houses the garage, family room, mechanical and storage areas.
