Preparing for the Photo Shoot

Our professional photo shoot is one of the best things that you can do to make your listing shine. But, before we arrive on the day of the photoshoot, there are a few things that you should do to prepare your home.

The photo-shoot will take 1-3 hours, depending on the size of the house. We will be photographing both the inside and outside of your home as well as all of the major rooms. We usually do not photograph the garage unless it has special features. You can use that space to keep things out of sight during the shoot. Here is a link to our check list for getting your home ready for the photographer

Correct unnecessary distractions

Keep in mind that buyers want to see the home that is being advertised, NOT what is in it. The house should be free of clutter and reasonably clean. The goal is to allow the person who’s viewing the pictures to imagine his things in the home instead of seeing too much of someone else’s.

  • Remove all vehicles from driveways and do not park directly in front of the house.
  • Move garbage cans out of sight.
  • Remove all garden tools including hoses and sprinklers.
  • Mow the lawn.
  • Sweep driveways, sidewalks and patios.
  • Clear off counter tops in kitchen and bathroom areas.
  • Tuck trash cans out of view in a closet or cupboard.
  • Remove photos, notes and papers from the refrigerator.
  • Turn on all interior lights.
  • Replace burned out bulbs in all interior lights.
  • Turn ceiling fans and televisions off.
  • De-clutter rooms.
  • Make all beds and tidy bedrooms. Clothes hung, or folded and put away.
  • Remove piles of newspapers and magazines.
  • Remove evidence of pets.

Note: Your every day living things can be put back after the photos have been taken.
